What shoulder bag is trending?
The soft shoulder bag: slouchy, unstructured and carried close under the arm. The hobo, the classic soft crescent, is back with it, and so are drawstring closures.

Suede, in chocolate, toffee and caramel
Suede is the material of fall 2026, and it looks richest in warm browns. It’s softer than smooth leather and marks more easily, so choose it for a bag you’ll treat kindly and keep out of the rain.
Burgundy is the new neutral
Burgundy, and its cousins merlot, wine and black cherry, has become the season’s go-with-everything colour alongside chocolate brown. It reads richer than black and softer than red, and it works with denim, camel and grey alike.
East–West and drawstring shapes
Two shapes keep coming back. The long, narrow East–West bag sits flat under the arm and gives an outfit a clean line. The drawstring bag, which Chanel brought to its new 25, feels relaxed but deliberate.
What is the hottest handbag right now?
At the accessible end, it’s Coach’s Tabby: demand for it helped Coach’s owner, Tapestry, beat forecasts and raise its targets again in 2026. At the very top, it’s the Chanel 25, a soft, quilted drawstring hobo introduced in 2025.
Coach won nearly nine million new customers in its 2026 financial year, led by Gen Z, and the Tabby and its New York collection (Brooklyn, Empire and Chelsea) are why.
