It’s cooled, not collapsed. Louis Vuitton lost the top spot to Hermès in Kantar BrandZ’s 2026 ranking as its brand value fell, and LVMH’s revenue dipped in 2025. It’s still the biggest luxury brand in the world by sales.

Who bought 50% of Gucci?
Investcorp, a Bahrain-based investment firm. It bought half of Gucci from members of the Gucci family in the late 1980s, then the other half from Maurizio Gucci in 1993. Today Gucci belongs entirely to Kering (formerly PPR), which began buying in 1999 and took full control in 2004.
